Pancreatic Cancer Research Ceremony and Building Illumination

On Monday, July 20, 2009, The Lustgarten Foundation joined with Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi for a ceremony and dome lighting of the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer research.
The event commenced with a welcome and opening remarks by County Executive Suozzi, followed by brief remarks by Lustgarten Foundation President Dr. Robert Vizza and Lustgarten Foundation Board Member Marcia Lustgarten. Following the ceremony, guests gathered for the official illumination of the building’s dome.
The ceremony was dedicated to the late Inspector Matthew J. Simeone, Jr. of the Nassau County, New York Police Department. A 24-year veteran of the Department, Inspector Simeone lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in March 2009. County Executive Suozzi noted the event was also a reminder of the urgent need to support pancreatic cancer research.
The Dome Illumination will be in effect through August 2009. All are welcome to visit the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building.
Special thanks to County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi, Kim Collins, and everyone who helped make this event a success.
