A little more than 3 years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A year and a half later, he lost his battle.
According to recent reports, advances in cancer treatment are reducing overall cancer death rates. Yet, the survival rate for pancreatic cancer has not changed in 25 years.
Advances in cancer treatment are the result of scientific research. But research follows dollars, and for decades funding for pancreatic cancer research was virtually nonexistent. Today, pancreatic cancer research remains largely underfunded.
As you may know, my family and I have been deeply affected by pancreatic cancer. We have joined efforts with The Lustgarten Foundation because they are the nation’s largest private supporter of research for pancreatic cancer. Like the Foundation, we believe that research is our best weapon in the fight. Now, thanks to a commitment by Cablevision Systems Corporation to underwrite all of the Foundation’s administrative expenses, 100% of every dollar donated to the Foundation goes directly to critically needed pancreatic cancer research.
Please support me in the Walk, and help ensure that pancreatic cancer patients have a fighting chance.
My family and I thank you for your support.
