Getting Started

• Ask for help 
• Form committees and delegate responsibilities
• Plan ahead - at least three to six months
• Develop an event that has relevance to the people in your community to whom you are reaching out for support
• Evaluate the event's success - objectives may include the number of participants, the amount of money raised, and the publicity garnered regarding pancreatic cancer

• Fundraise with a Mission!  Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in women and men in the United States.  The average length of survival for individuals with pancreatic cancer is six to nine months from diagnosis.  We know that research is our best weapon in the fight against pancreatic cancer.  To date, the Lustgarten Foundation has provided $20 million in support of promising pancreatic cancer research.
• Where will the money go?  The Lustgarten Foundation has sponsored nine international research conferences, launched a national public awareness campaign, and awareded $20 million in support of promising pancreatic cancer research.  The Foundation also distributes a free handbook offering patients and their families the most up-to-date-information on the disease.  Your support today could mean a cure for tommorrow!

  Day 1 - Sponsor yourself for $25
  Day 2 - Ask 2 family members to encourage you for $20 each
  Day 3 - Ask 4 friends to sponsor you for $15 each
  Day 4 - Ask 2 co-workers to support you for $10 each
  Day 5 - Ask 2 neighbors to contribute $10 each
  Day 6 - Ask 1 person from an organizaion that you belong to sponsor you for $10
  Day 7 - Ask your supervisor for a company contribution of $25

• Build your request around your excitement and enthusiasm for creating an event and for the fight against pancreatic cancer
• Share why pancreatic cancer research is important to you
• Inquire about your organization's charitable giving programs/matching gift programs
• All donations are tax deductible
• Be sure to send thank-you notes after receiving a pledge or donation
