21-year-old Brittany Vose will host the 8th annual Pancreatic Cancer Research 18-Hole Stroll, at the Travelers Championship on Sunday, June 25. The tournament is Connecticut’s PGA TOUR event, attracting spectators from across the country. All proceeds from the walk will support The Lustgarten Foundation, the nation’s largest nonprofit private funder of pancreatic cancer research.
“Every year I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of attention and participation that the Cromwell 18-Hole Stroll receives from pancreatic cancer patients, their families, and supporters nationwide,” said Brittany Vose, who created this event in 2009 when she was just 13 years old. Vose started the Pancreatic Cancer Research 18- Hole Stroll, an early morning walk at TPC River Highlands Golf Course during the Travelers Championship, in honor of her father, John Vose, who died of pancreatic cancer when she was just five years old and he was only 44. “I am proud to be working with The Lustgarten Foundation and the Travelers Championship to make a difference in patients’ lives so that other families hopefully won’t have to suffer such a devastating loss as my family has.”

A birdie is a score of one stroke better than par for any golf hole. PGA TOUR professionals are expected to make an average of 1,500 to 2,000 birdies during the 2017 Travelers Championship. The more pledges-per-birdie you gather from family and friends, the more funds you’ll raise.
Here are some examples of pledges-per-birdies (Examples are based on 1,500 birdies total):
$.01 per birdie = $15.00 | $.05 per birdie = $75.00 | $.10 per birdie = $150.00 | $1.00 per birdie = $1,500.00
