Strike Down Pancreatic Cancer
Thank you to everyone who attended our Strike Down Pancreatic Cancer event and joined together to increase awareness and research funding! Because of your support, Strike Down Pancreatic Cancer raised more than $650,000 for critical pancreatic cancer research. Thank you to our Board member Jennie Fortunoff and her friend Alonna Ostad, who together organized this event in memory of Jennie’s husband Louis W. Fortunoff, Alonna’s friend Steve Bryan, and others we have lost to pancreatic cancer. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of you and your families and are confident that through research, one day we will strike down pancreatic cancer
Louis W. Fortunoff was a brilliant man whose life was cut short by pancreatic cancer. He was kind, generous, and warm with a great sense of humor. He lived his life with integrity and passion and is remembered by all as a true gentleman. We honor Louis and others who have passed away from this disease in addition to those who are currently battling it. “Strike Down Pancreatic Cancer” is the kind of event Louis would have loved to attend. Nothing pleased him more than spending time with his family and friends. We proudly continue the fight against pancreatic cancer in his loving memory.
Please join us as we honor the memory of Steve Bryan. For so many members of the Ostrow, Ostad and Gilbert families, Steve Bryan was far more than a sports coach. Steve was our life coach who instilled in us, not only through his unique teaching style, but through our daily conversations, the importance of dedication, training, and passion. Steve was our dear friend who picked us up when we were down and felt defeated and taught us to believe in ourselves on and off the court. Steve’s unique way gave us the confidence to fight through adversity and always find our best selves. Though Steve made us feel we were his only students, he had countless others who like ourselves were touched and influenced similarly. Those who were lucky enough to know him carry his life lessons with them. Please join us as we honor his memory and those of others who fought or continue to fight against pancreatic cancer.
