The Fight Continues

My first Lustgarten walk was in 2016, a year after I lost my husband to pancreatic cancer. He was 54 years old. A few months after he passed, I saw an ad for the Lustgarten Foundation and visited their website. I was thrilled to see that Syracuse had a walk scheduled to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research. I thought this would be a great way to keep fighting—the way my husband fought for 9 months. Empowered with grief, my family and friends rallied around me and I am happy to say, we all look forward to the Syracuse walk every year, so we can stay strong in the fight together. In 2018, I became the walk leader for Syracuse, and I must say, our committee of volunteers made the walk leader duty very easy. We now have a solid foundation of dedicated volunteers that we can build upon each and every year. And we have new committee members, too. Look out 2019!
