Our privacy policy addresses questions or concerns about the information collected through your digital, paper, or in-person engagement with the organization. The foundation respects the privacy of all our supporters, whether donors, members of our mailing lists, or visitors to our website. By using any of our services, communicating with the foundation, or providing information to the Lustgarten Foundation you are agreeing to this privacy policy. We are committed to being good steward of the data you entrust to us. The Lustgarten Foundation collects information to support our mission to cure pancreatic cancer. Through our information collection, we can better understand our supporters’ interests and needs. Information collected by the Lustgarten Foundation will vary depending on the supporter’s interactions with the organization and its services.

We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly. We do not require visitors to register or provide information to us to view the website. The Lustgarten Foundation only gathers personally identifiable information, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, email addresses, limited health information such as your relationship to pancreatic cancer, etc. when it is voluntarily submitted by a visitor – usually in conjunction with event registration or donation. Our website is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data on children under the age of 13 unless necessary for event participation such as child registration for a Walk fundraiser. We comply with the federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA).

Health Information

We may request limited health information about you, such as your relationship with pancreatic cancer or other cancers, date of diagnosis, stage, current treatments, etc. This information may be used to assist you if you contact the Lustgarten Foundation seeking pancreatic cancer information or to request support from the foundation. We may use this information to let you know about special activities for patients, survivors, caregivers, and support networks. This health information may be transmitted electronically for the use, or the disclosures described in this privacy policy.

Financial Information

If you donate to the Lustgarten Foundation we will collect payment information to process your transaction. We may also collect relevant information such as the name of the employing company for a matching gift donation. We may use a third-party payment service to process payments made through the foundation’s services. We do not retain credit card numbers and rely on referenced or recurring transactions for subsequent processing of related transactions (refunds, monthly giving, etc).

Our web server automatically recognizes non-personalized information through cookies, such as browser type, operating system, Lustgarten webpages you visit and links you click, IP address, time spent on the Lustgarten website, and the webpage that led you to the foundation’s website. All staff are trained on our privacy policy and have access to personal information on a strictly “need to know” basis.

This access is provided free of charge, however, if requests are deemed to be unfounded, excessive, or repetitive, Lustgarten Foundation is entitled to charge an administrative fee.

Communications materials and activities may have already been deployed at the date of consent withdrawal and it can take several months to be fully removed from related communications streams.

You have the right to correct, erase, and supplement any information you have provided to us. This right to correct personal data extends to third parties of the Lustgarten Foundation. We will take reasonable steps to inform third parties, with whom we shared your data, of your data correction. You have the right to request that the Lustgarten Foundation refrains from processing your personal data if you believe the data to be inaccurate, unlawful to process, or do not want the Lustgarten Foundation to hold onto your data any longer.
