The Lustgarten Foundation Remembers Nobel Laurete Ralph Steinman.

October 5, 2011

Dear Supporters:

We would like to pay tribute to our late colleague, Dr. Ralph Steinman, who passed away from pancreatic cancer on September 30. Dr. Steinman was a research pioneer in the field of immunology, and his outstanding work has been awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

It has been our privilege to have worked with Dr. Steinman and to have supported his important research on applying immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer. That this was the disease that claimed his life underscores the importance of research for this deadly disease so that one day we will find a cure.  Dr. Steinman’s dedication to developing better treatment options for people with pancreatic cancer and his courage in battling this disease demonstrates the difference that one person can make.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to Dr. Ralph Steinman's family and to his colleagues at Rockefeller University.
