We are grateful for your participation in our walk program. Below you will find the answers to the questions we commonly receive. If you do not see the answer to your question, please email us at email@example.com.
It’s the next best thing to being together at a Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk. We call it #TogetherAlone—as a virtual walker, you’ll join hundreds of other participants all walking for the same cause around their neighborhoods. For example, most participants in the New York area will walk on Sunday, July 12. If you can’t walk on the date scheduled for your city, you can still participate (see details below).
Since we can’t all walk together in the same place, at the same time, we’ll get together virtually through your social media posts (more on that below). This is a first for all of us, so we’re providing even more tools and resources to help you succeed in raising critical funds, 100 percent of which go directly to pancreatic cancer research.
The Foundation shifted to the virtual walk format in response to CDC guidelines around social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We value your health and wellbeing, so please stay safe by following the latest safety recommendations and by walking only in your neighborhood or in areas open to the public.
The great thing about a virtual walk is that you can participate at anytime from anywhere! Once registered for the walk of your choice, you can choose the date, time and location that works for you. Then, join other walkers online by posting photos and videos to your social media accounts. Join the conversation by tagging the Foundation and using the hashtags #TogetherAlone, #PancreaticCancerResearch and #PancreaticCancer. More details below.
Registration is easy! Visit our walk page and scroll down to select the virtual event you’d like to join and click “register.” You will then be directed to the specific walk page for that event, where you can then select “register to walk.” You can walk as an individual, join an existing team or create a team of your own.
Returning participant? Fantastic! Log into the website with your username and password from last year. Here, you can select “virtual walker,” and follow the remaining prompts to complete your 2020 registration.
Fundraise! Team captains and walkers who registered before the walk went virtual were automatically transferred to the virtual event, so you’re all set to start or to continue raising funds. Use your existing username and password to log into your team and personal fundraising pages and keep the momentum going by recruiting family, friends and coworkers to join you in the fight against pancreatic cancer. Don’t forget to take advantage of all the tools and resources we provide to help you succeed.
All donations, regardless of when they were raised, will count toward this year’s virtual walk. As always, 100 percent of your donations will go directly to fund pancreatic cancer research.
No problem. The beauty of a virtual walk is you can participate from anywhere. Follow the registration prompts from above to select the location nearest you, or join our New York area walk on Sunday, July 12 for what would have been NYC’s 10th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk.
Walk events that shifted to the virtual format will not be rescheduled for 2020; however, we look forward to reconvening in person for the 2021 Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk series.
All you need to do is post about your participation in the Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk on your personal social media accounts. We’ve tried to make it easy by providing a variety of pre-written posts you can copy and paste into whatever platform you’re using: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn.
We want to see your photos and videos so to help us find your posts, be sure to tag us:
- @LustgartenFDN on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
- the-lustgarten-foundation on LinkedIn
Hashtags are another way we can find your posts, so try to include at least one of the following: #TogetherAlone #PancreaticCancer #PancreaticCancerResearch.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide t-shirts for virtual walkers due to logistical and cost challenges. As the virtual walks get closer, we will be offering special recognition for our dedicated individual and team fundraisers.
