Fighting Pancreatic Cancer – It’s Personal For the Both of Us
Nine years ago, I lost a close friend to pancreatic cancer and first learned about the Lustgarten Foundation. Then, in 2017, I was diagnosed with the disease. I underwent a successful Whipple surgery followed by chemotherapy, with the hope that the disease would be eradicated and that I would go back to the full life I had prior to my diagnosis. After relocating from New Jersey to South Florida and realizing that the Foundation did not have a walk in the area, I volunteered to start one. The Foundation has done so much for me, and I want to give back to other patients, survivors, and their family members who could benefit from a community walk event, just as I have.
Neal and I co-lead this walk and held our inaugural event in February 2018. The walk far surpassed our expectations, and we look forward to seeing what the next year will hold.
